Job Description
We seek a Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Housing to join our Fraternity and Sorority Life team in Blacksburg, VA. The Coordinator will lead the Oak Lane residential community, supporting student well‑being, organizational success, and the fraternity and sorority experience. The role maintains strong relationships with Housing, Residential Well‑Being, Facilities and Operations, Services for Students with Disabilities, chapter advisors, house corporations, and inter/international headquarters to ensure coordinated support and a consistent on‑campus residential experience.
Key Responsibilities- Join the Fraternity and Sorority Life team, coaching, educating, and connecting over 5,700 students in 60+ Greek organizations.
- Report to the Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life in a regular twelve‑month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
- Oversee all aspects of occupancy management for Oak Lane, including housing applications, assignments, cancellations, billing, and roster processes; support case management and well‑being initiatives; contribute to the annual residential life cycle, including community‑building efforts and building openings and closings.
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of 19 undergraduate House Supervisors and, if available, a Graduate Assistant.
- Serve as a chapter coach to a portfolio of fraternities and sororities across all four councils; support chapter officers, advisors, alumni, parents, and national partners; assist with organizational conduct matters in partnership with Student Conduct.
- Grow within the Department and Division through a developmental plan with advancement opportunities.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed.
Base salary between $47,000 and $51,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and more.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field.
- Professional experience in fraternity and sorority life, including advising, coaching, or supporting Greek‑letter organizations.
- Experience with residential or housing operations such as occupancy management, assignment, or community operations.
- Experience supporting student well‑being including case management collaboration, crisis response, or student support services.
- Supervisory experience overseeing employees at different levels.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships with a wide range of campus stakeholders.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field.
- Experience with training, teaching, and leadership development.
- Experience using Star Rez software.
- Knowledge of the university’s student conduct regarding the Greek community.
- The selected candidate must have a criminal background check.
- This position requires evening and weekend work as needed.
