Senior Engineer; PE - Solid Waste

TRC is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer to support Solid Waste projects with the Southeast Engineering and Remediation team. The ideal candidate must have 7+ years of solid waste experience and a Professional Engineering License (PE) in Virginia;
North Carolina preferred.

The position may report to any of our offices in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia.

Responsibilities include engineering design, team support, and project management on a variety of waste resource engineering projects, with a particular focus on landfill design, landfill gas systems, landfill leachate systems, construction planning and oversight, landfill closure, landfill operations, landfill post‑closure care, transfer station design, MRF design, and recycling centers.

• Landfill design
• Landfill permitting
• Stormwater design
• Wetland permitting
• Leachate system design, management, and treatment
• Landfill gas collection and control system design including active gas systems; management, blower/flair station, plant operations system troubleshooting and well field tuning, Title V emissions reporting
• Facility siting, design, and construction management for landfills, transfer stations, convenience centers, materials recovery facilities, composting facilities
• Landfill capacity analysis
• Facility / landfill financial assurance
• Odor assessment and mitigation, tracer gas studies, ambient air monitoring
• Solid waste facility operations
• Construction management and quality assurance
• Design of landfill‑based renewable energy systems including solar and wind energy, landfill gas to energy systems
• Other waste‑to‑energy technologies including anaerobic digestion and biogas

• Professional Engineer License in Virginia required within six months. North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida are a plus and may be required in the future.
• 7+ years of experience in site planning, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, drainage design, grading plans.
• 5+ years of landfill design and permitting experience required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent technical/computer skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and on multiple projects at the same time.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Salary range: USD $ – $ per year. Compensation varies based on experience, education, skill level, geographic location and other factors. Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program contingent on company, business segment and individual performance.
