Job SummaryMoog’s Space and Defense Group seeks a Senior Design Engineer for Slip Rings to join a team focused on developing high‑reliability slip ring assemblies for satellites, space vehicles, and defense systems. The role supports mechanical, thermal, and electrical design and analysis, leading projects from concept through production and testing.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering (or related discipline)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in precision rotating electromechanical equipment design and analysis
- Extensive experience in mechanical design, including design for manufacturing and assembly of production hardware
- Proficiency with CAD/CAE tools and FEA analysis
- Knowledge of GD&T on engineering prints and drafting standards
- Experience reviewing peers’ designs for completeness and accuracy
- Understanding of machining, manufacturing capabilities, and electrical principles
- Exposure to export‑controlled information (must comply with U.S. regulations)
- Mechanical design for rugged or harsh environments
- Electronics assembly integration and packaging
- Familiarity with military standards and MIL‑SPEC environmental testing
- Experience with UG NX and ANSYS
- Establish concepts and requirements for high‑reliability slip ring assemblies across mechanical, thermal, and electrical disciplines
- Interpret customer specifications and act as the primary interface with suppliers and clients on technical matters
- Collaborate with designers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and technical writers
- Lead design from bid and proposal through detailed development, production drawings, and sustainment support during production build and test
- Contribute to internal research and development to expand Moog’s technology portfolio
Salary Range
:
Blacksburg, VA $90,000.00–$ annually (base salary; actual pay varies with experience and performance). Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, an employee stock purchase plan, flexible paid time off, and comprehensive insurance coverage.
