E. Cook Counseling Center (CCC) supports the mission of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and the Division of Student Affairs. We promote student learning, development, retention, and holistic wellbeing by providing resources for improving mental health and identifying psychological barriers to academic success. The CCC supports these efforts through psycho-educational programming, individual, group, crisis, and psychiatric services. CCC’s commitment to service also includes multidisciplinary training, consultation, advocacy, and research.
The center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and has a doctoral internship program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
- A doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, from an APA-approved program with an APA-approved internship and be licensed or licensed eligible as a licensed clinical psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Supervision may be provided with a goal of licensure within 1 year from start date of employment.
- Experience in providing focused therapeutic interventions within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience and interest in collaboration with academic departments, faculty, and staff.
- Training and experience in delivering culturally competent interventions.
- Experience in outreach and educational programming, e.g., suicide prevention gate-keeper programs.
