Job Description

The Regional Recruiter for Texas Recruitment will primarily be responsible for undergraduate student recruitment within Texas (primarily Dallas/Fort Worth area). The role involves recruitment travel within the assigned territory and reviewing applications for other regions in the college’s primary markets.

This professional will be responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students from researched markets in the Texas territory. Responsibilities include representing Virginia Tech at college fairs, high‑school visits, CBO and IEC presentations, spring college nights, college summer camps, evaluating assigned applications, and aiding in the yield of admitted students. The candidate will work independently and must have outstanding territory and management skills, and be a strong relationship builder.

The Regional Recruiter will maintain extensive personal contact with prospects, parents, counselors, and other educational professionals in person, by phone, e‑mail, and social media. They will arrange off‑campus recruitment and yield programs and receptions. The Regional Recruiter will also manage or co‑manage other programs that contribute to the overall success of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions recruitment efforts, such as alumni and parent admissions events, CBO outreach, counselor luncheons, counselor tours, and social media campaigns.

A good deal of evening and weekend work and extensive travel is required. The Regional Recruiter will be expected to attend recruitment programs throughout Texas and other regional programs. The position may require 4–6 trips to Blacksburg for training, updates, and campus programs.

It is preferred that the candidate live in a populated or central area of the Texas territory (Dallas/Fort Worth area).

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Several years of experience in an undergraduate admissions office
• Effective time management and organizational skills, and strong analytical skills to monitor territory development
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and public‑speaking experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel
• Willingness to travel extensively within Texas and to visit campus
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Strong event‑planning experience and service to students/parents
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends; ability to stand, walk and lift up to 40 pounds

• Master’s degree
• Experience with high schools, community colleges, independent counselor groups and community‑based organizations in Texas
• Experienced regional counselor
• Experience with CRM, Microsoft tools and Google Apps suite
• Knowledge of current recruiting trends and relevant professional standards and codes of ethics (e.g., NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practices)
• Proficiency in written and spoken foreign language

Minimum starting salary of $70,000.

Hours per week: 40+.

Salary information is confidential and will be provided after interview.

Overtime status:
Exempt – Not eligible for overtime.
