Facilities Project Manager (Operations & Maintenance)

Lead and coordinate facilities operations and minor construction projects in support of the Office of College Facilities. This role addresses a growing need for dedicated project management across a large and complex facilities portfolio spanning more than 2 million square feet, including over 500 campus buildings, eleven Agricultural Research and Extension Centers (ARECs), and cooperative extension sites across the Commonwealth.

• Lead and coordinate facilities operations and minor construction projects across the portfolio of campus buildings, ARECs, and extension sites.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects independently and serve as the primary point of contact for project execution.
• Provide on‑site technical assessment and oversight, requiring 20–40% travel to AREC locations.
• Collaborate closely with AREC directors, superintendents, farm staff, contractors, university partners, and other stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and field experience in construction management, facility management, or a related field.
• Ability to interpret design/construction documents and effectively administer contracts.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction means and methods.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and records management skills.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar digital plan review and markup tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Working experience in a higher education or research facility context.
• Agricultural facility or operations expertise.
• Knowledge of building systems and preventive maintenance practices.
• Experience working in geographically dispersed environments.
• OSHA 10 or 30‑hour certificate in general industry or construction; familiarity with safety practices in construction and/or agricultural settings.

Not eligible for overtime

Appointment Type: Regular

Salary Information: $75,000 - $80,000; commensurate with experience

Hours per week: 40 hours a week

Additional Information: Must wear safety/PPE equipment. Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. This position is designated as emergency personnel and must be able to meet a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, and be available on‑call by telephone or cell phone for critical or time‑sensitive needs. The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
