Location:

Blacksburg, VA (Onsite)

• Operate lathes, mills, and various hand tools including grinders, drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, sandblasters, and bead blasters.
• Operate power band saws, cut‑off saws, and select appropriate speeds, feeds, tooth sizes, guide settings, and blade replacements.
• Set up manual and CNC machines with proper speeds and feeds for lathes and mills.
• Verify work against blueprints, standards, and work instructions.
• Solve in‑process equipment and tooling challenges and develop improvements to existing tooling.
• Complete machining operations with or without planning/prints.
• Assist in the completion of accurate and legible paperwork and validate documents.
• Assist in training and cross‑training of other personnel.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement Process.
• Work with minimal supervision and meet output requirements (quality and quantity).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of related machining experience.
• Proficient with manual and/or CNC machines.
• Experience with conventional and CNC lathes and mills.
• Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerancing.
• Proficient in the use of grinders, drill presses, machine accessories, and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
• Basic computer skills for validating documents and verifying revisions.
• Strong cognitive ability and manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.
• Effective communication skills.
