Job Description
We are seeking a certified Master Plumber to enhance our maintenance team. Join our Facilities and Operations team within Student Affairs Housing Maintenance, dedicated to maintaining 47 residence halls and serving over 10,500 residents.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems across Virginia Tech's residence halls.
- Contribute to training and development of maintenance department trainees.
- Provide master-level skills in minor electrical and mechanical equipment repairs, as needed.
- Train and supervise both professional and student employees, ensuring work quality and service timeliness.
Required Qualifications
- Current Virginia Master Plumbers Tradesman License or a journeyman license with commensurate experience.
- Considerable experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in a residential/commercial environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to use them in a team setting.
- Experience in a large commercial or institutional setting.
- Formal vocational education.
- Experience with an online work order system.
- Significant knowledge of steam systems.
- Pay Band: 4
- Overtime Status:
Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime) - Appointment Type:
Regular - Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience
- Hours per week: 40
- Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and as needed for good customer service. - Review Date:
