Master Plumber

Job Description

We are seeking a certified Master Plumber to enhance our maintenance team. Join our Facilities and Operations team within Student Affairs Housing Maintenance, dedicated to maintaining 47 residence halls and serving over 10,500 residents.

• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems across Virginia Tech's residence halls.
• Contribute to training and development of maintenance department trainees.
• Provide master-level skills in minor electrical and mechanical equipment repairs, as needed.
• Train and supervise both professional and student employees, ensuring work quality and service timeliness.

• Current Virginia Master Plumbers Tradesman License or a journeyman license with commensurate experience.
• Considerable experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in a residential/commercial environment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to use them in a team setting.

• Experience in a large commercial or institutional setting.
• Formal vocational education.
• Experience with an online work order system.
• Significant knowledge of steam systems.

• Pay Band: 4
• Overtime Status:
  Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime)
• Appointment Type:
  Regular
• Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience
• Hours per week: 40
• Work Schedule:
  
  Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and as needed for good customer service.
