Coordinator Fraternity and Sorority

Job Overview

We seek a Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) to join the team in Blacksburg, VA. The Coordinator will advise one or more of the four governing councils and serve as an FSL Chapter Coach, working to facilitate the development, coordination, and administration of departmental programs and services that support current and prospective fraternity and sorority chapter members within a community of 5,700+ members and 50+ nationally affiliated organizations.

• Join the Fraternity and Sorority Life team and engage members of the fraternity and sorority community.
• Report to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life under a regular twelve‑month, 100% AP faculty appointment.
• Provide direct leadership and advising to one or more of the four governing councils:
  Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan‑Hellenic Council (NPHC), Panhellenic Council (PHC), and United Council of Fraternities and Sororities.
• Serve as a staff coach to several chapters within the Fraternity and Sorority Life community.
• Participate in a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and Division.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners in a team‑oriented environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Education, or related fields from an accredited institution, with at least one year of related work experience.
• Experience working with college students and understanding the current landscape of fraternity and sorority life.
• Demonstrated collaboration and engagement with individuals from diverse backgrounds and multicultural communities.
• Ability to manage confidential information with judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
• Excellent communication, writing, presentation, facilitation, organizational, project‑management, and administrative skills.
• Experience in programming and/or event management.

• Membership in a men’s or women’s fraternal organization.
• Master’s degree by the time of appointment.
• Demonstrated experience in a Student Affairs or student service unit.
• Direct advising experience with a fraternity or sorority or council.
• Ability to advise affinity‑based and/or culturally‑based organizations.

Base salary $45,000–$50,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and more.
