Position: Coordinator in Residential Well-being

Overview

Coordinator, Residential Well-being – Blacksburg, VA. The role is part of Virginia Tech’s Division of Student Affairs and focuses on engaging residential students in programs and experiences that foster cultural competency, inclusion, and advocacy, within the Residential Well-being team.

Responsibilities
  • Join the Residential Well-being team to create intentional residential communities characterized by belonging, flourishing, compassion for self and others, and meaningful engagement.
  • Report to the Managing Director of Residential Well-being and the Assistant Director in a regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
  • Empower all residential students to engage across differences and foster a sense of belonging on campus.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for dialogue, intervention, and programming to provide experiences that promote acceptance and civility where students can share identities and connect with diverse backgrounds.
  • Lead a team of approximately 15–20 Residential Well-being Student Leaders who live in residence halls and work to ensure student engagement at an optimal level.
  • Utilize a developmental plan with opportunities to grow and advance within the department and division.
  • Receive a base compensation package between $44,000–$46,000 with an on-campus apartment, or $50,000–$52,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and more.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and takes initiative
  • Vision and creativity in program design and promotion, with strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Growth mindset and openness to change as opportunity for creativity and improvement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with campus-wide engagement and strategic planning
  • Creativity in identifying, implementing, and evaluating inclusive programs and services
  • Ability to respond effectively to crises
  • Experience working with students in a complex educational setting
Additional Details
  • Exempt; not eligible for overtime
  • Regular appointment
  • Salary: 44,000–46,000 with furnished apartment or 50,000–52,000
  • Work Schedule:

    Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm with weekly evening meetings and on-call
  • Hours per week: 40
