Logistics Specialist – Student Affairs Facilities and Operations

As a member of the Student Affairs Facilities and Operations department, you will support the day‑to‑day logistics functions for residence halls, dining facilities, and student centers. Your responsibilities include:

  • Moving and storing department assets such as student room, lounge, and office furnishings.
  • Safely operating departmental vehicles, including box trucks and utility vehicles.
  • Inspecting and performing light maintenance of the departmental fleet.
  • Maintaining furniture and upholstery and handling cleaning tasks.
  • Assisting with cabinet shop operations.
  • Supporting maintenance operations logistics needs.
  • Working independently and as a team while maintaining safe work practices in densely populated pedestrian and student environments.
  • Demonstrating attention to detail, customer service, safe driving practices, and the care of university assets and equipment.
  • Providing overtime support during peak operational periods or emergency situations that may result in student displacement.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience with general logistics work or maintenance of commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Experience with general furnishing repairs, including diagnosing, repairing, cleaning, maintaining, and/or replacing furnishings and upholstery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance methods, materials, tools, procedures, and safety practices.
  • Experience processing accurate work order reports/documentation and auditing/maintaining inventory.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proven ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment in densely populated pedestrian and campus environments.
  • Physical ability to safely lift, move, and transport furnishings, materials, and equipment.
  • Flexibility to work some overtime and respond to after‑hours service calls when scheduled or in emergency situations.
  • Availability to work weekend shifts occasionally due to student residency schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education, student housing, dining, or institutional facilities environments.
  • Previous experience operating box trucks, utility vehicles, forklifts, or material handling equipment.
  • Experience working with or understanding blueprints and specifications.
Pay & Benefits

Pay Band: 3

Salary: $37,000 – $42,000, commensurate with experience.

Overtime Status:
Non‑Exempt – Eligible for overtime.

Appointment Type:
Regular

Hours per Week: 40

Regular

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; some overtime possible. Will respond to after‑hours critical service calls when scheduled.

Additional Information

Applicants will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check. A safe driving record is mandatory. The successful candidate will be eligible for overtime during peak operational periods or emergencies.
