Job Summary
Control Room Operator – Blackstone, Massachusetts (Blackstone facility)
The Company is currently seeking an experienced Control Room Operator to operate, maintain, and monitor power plant systems from the field continuously. The operator responds to alarms, takes corrective actions, and executes plant shutdown, start‑up, and maintenance procedures. The role ensures the plant meets generating requirements while operating safely and efficiently, reporting directly to the immediate Supervisor. Pay range: $40–$60 per hour depending on experience.
KeyAccountabilities
- Work with team members to meet the facility’s established safety, environmental, operating, and maintenance goals and objectives.
- Respond to abnormal operating situations in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
- Perform operational activities required to support start‑up, shutdown, and normal operation of plant equipment and systems.
- Report equipment conditions or other facility anomalies that could affect plant status to the Operations, Maintenance, and/or Plant Manager.
- Make entries in operating logs, environmental records, and other administrative documentation needed to support operation and maintenance.
- Complete required electrical switching and tagging of plant equipment and systems in accordance with approved lockout procedures, industry guidelines, and prudent practices.
- Participate in plant housekeeping program and complete cleanup activities to maintain desired cleanliness.
- Perform assigned preventive, corrective, emergency maintenance, and inspection of plant mechanical and electrical equipment as needed.
- Complete routine cycle chemistry testing and make necessary adjustments to operate within established parameters.
- Read and respond to computer‑generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and color variations.
- Comply with all required site safety requirements to eliminate potential hazards.
- Utilize the computer‑based maintenance management system (CMMS) to document and track maintenance requests, work orders, and completed actions.
- Review facility environmental permits to ensure familiarity with operating limits and reporting requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by plant management.
- Minimum 6 years of related experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Effective oral and verbal communication skills.
- State license as required by the governing body of the state (e.g., MA, OH) if applicable.
- 2nd Class Engineer’s License in Commonwealth of Massachusetts preferred.
- Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program.
- Level of position determined by applicable skills and experience.
- Achieve satisfactory completion of Tier 4 Job Performance Measures in primary job and Tier 2 in another skill.
- Demonstrate continual self‑improvement in job skills and knowledge.
