Job SummaryThis position will function to maintain the instrumentation, control, electrical and mechanical systems of a two unit GT24 Combined Cycle plant to meet the specific energy generation requirements of the Vistra system in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally sound manner.
This position will pay between $40 - $50 per hour depending upon experience.
Job Description Responsibilities- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on the plant instrumentation, control, electrical and mechanical systems with minimum supervision, including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shift.
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and resolution of plant instrumentation, control, electrical and mechanical systems’ issues.
- Inspect, repair, install and remove various types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, motor control equipment, cabling, buswork and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts.
- Tune and calibrate boiler controls to ensure safe and optimum boiler performance.
- Calibrate turbine controls and turbine valve actuators for safe and optimum turbine performance.
- Maintain and calibrate all plant instrumentation to provide reliable operational information to operations and support personnel.
- Document and maintain records of instrumentation, control, electrical and mechanical maintenance history.
- Maintains CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems) in accordance with state and federal compliance guidelines.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair plant electronic, pneumatic systems, analyzers, facility computers, process control/PLC equipment and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of power plant mechanical equipment as well as safety policies and procedures, especially in the areas of LOTO, chemical handling, heavy equipment, rotating machinery, confined spaces.
- Experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of rotating equipment including pumps, mechanical seals, gas and steam turbines, generators, fans, bearings, gaskets, couplings, alignment, etc.).
- Knowledge of heat recovery steam generators and related equipment, piping systems (valves, actuators, flanges, hangers, etc.), and lube oil, analysis, filtration & hydraulic oil systems
- Must be able to locate, trouble‑shoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment.
- High school graduate or equivalent, trade school, related military service training programs or technical training school programs
- All applicants must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program in order to be considered a candidate for this position. - 4- 6 years maintenance experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities and field is preferred
- Must have knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to electrical maintenance.
- Capable of frequently standing; walking; sitting; climbing; stooping and crouching; kneeling; reaching; pushing; pulling; grasping; talking; lifting and hearing
- The job also requires carrying, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Worker will be exposed to temperatures greater than 100 degrees Fahrenheit; equipment noise greater than 85 dbl; and hazards such as high‑pressure steam lines.
- The job requires the ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions while exposed to heat, cold, operating machinery, energized wires, loud noise, dust, grease, oil and fumes.
- Capable of using computer, telephone, radio, hand‑held tools, power equipment, etc.
- Must be able to frequently climb stairs; climb ladders to and work from elevated platforms and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more.
