Junior Quant Trader - Agricultural Commodities

Interfood is looking for a Junior Quant Trader to join our EU Derivatives team. In this role you will combine quantitative analysis, programming and market research to develop systematic trading and risk management strategies across agricultural commodity markets. You will work closely with commercial traders, derivatives traders and analysts to transform market data into actionable trading insights.

You will contribute to the development of quantitative models, trading algorithms, pricing tools, and data‑driven decision support for both proprietary trading and commercial risk management.

As our new Junior Quant Trader you:

• Develop and improve quantitative models for agricultural commodity markets, including futures, options, spreads and OTC products.
• Analyze large market datasets to identify trading opportunities and market patterns.
• Build and backtest systematic trading strategies using historical and real‑time market data.
• Support derivatives and physical traders with quantitative analysis, pricing models and risk analytics.
• Develop forecasting models for prices, volatility and market fundamentals.
• Automate market analysis, reporting and trade monitoring using Python and analytical tools.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to translate quantitative insights into trading decisions.
• Monitor model performance and continuously improve trading strategies.
• Research new data sources to enhance forecasting and trading performance.
• Contribute to the development of Interfood's quantitative trading capabilities.

• Curious, self-driven, and motivated to continuously improve quantitative models and trading performance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain quantitative concepts to commercial colleagues.
• Excellent command of English.
• Master's degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related analytical field.
• Strong interest in commodity markets, quantitative finance, and systematic trading. Understanding of derivatives (futures, options, swaps) is an advantage.
• Experience with Python and data analysis libraries such as Pandas, Num Py, Sci Py, or similar.
• Familiarity with SQL and experience working with large datasets.
• Knowledge of statistics, probability, optimization, or machine learning techniques.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
