Position Overview
We are seeking an initiative-taking and meticulous Accounting Specialist to lead our dynamic finance position. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and executing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, facilitate accurate financial analysis, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.

- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Perform detailed account reconciliation including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Execute journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting procedures to maintain accurate financial records.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and support month‑end and year‑end closing activities with precision.
- Support internal and external audits through detailed documentation, audit trail maintenance, and compliance checks related to SOX (Sarbanes‑Oxley Act) controls.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements including tax filings, securities law compliance, and governmental accounting mandates such as LIHTC (Low‑Income Housing Tax Credit).
- Contribute to financial report writing, interpretation of financial reports, cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and fiscal management initiatives.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or other enterprise systems to streamline processes and enhance data accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Quick Books and E2 Job Boss; familiarity with financial software for reporting and analysis tools is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately; experience in financial report writing is advantageous.
- Exceptional organizational skills with diligence; ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within deadlines.
Effective communication skills for collaboration across teams; mentoring experience is a plus.
