Commercial Optimization III, Sr, Lead

The Commercial Optimization III, Sr, Lead focuses on optimizing revenue streams within the geographic footprint of an assigned market area for our western interstate pipeline, coordinating with Pipeline Control and Commercial organizations to develop and implement controls that maximize utilization of services and increase revenue.

Responsibilities
  • Identify market interest and enhance revenue for transportation and storage opportunities.
  • Identify market needs and craft short‑term services to address customer demands.
  • Support, develop, and implement controls to better predict customer imbalances and utilization of services.
  • Identify services impacted when system capacity is limited due to unplanned outages or predicted flow dynamics changes.
  • Coordinate with internal business partners on tariff changes, expansion project implementation, and facility abandonments.
  • Support gas control in short and long‑term planning to meet obligations and optimize revenue streams.
  • Develop tariff modifications, coordinate across market centers, define business requirements, and train others on changes to business practices.
  • Improve Short‑Term Firm and Park‑and‑Loan revenue by identifying and implementing new revenue services.
  • Collaborate with Pipeline Control, System Planning, Operations, and Commercial reps on maintenance and optimization activities.
  • Analyze location/constraint utilization and measured versus scheduled volumes to identify trends and patterns.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of risk management tools.
  • Monitor imbalances and customer activity to provide system recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the energy industry.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s in Business Administration; experience in commercial roles and familiarity with contracts and tariff provisions.
Additional Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and PC skills.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial documents and agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify process improvements, trends, and predictive behavior.
  • Proprietary understanding of natural gas challenges and how they complement alternative energy sources.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional project teams focused on commercial operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of customers’ business needs and challenges in the natural gas market.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills; safety as the utmost priority.
