Position Title: Multilingual Services Instructional Coach
Location: Northpoint Home Base
SUMMARYThis position will work collaboratively with general education staff, ESL and Dual Language program staff, self-contained special education teachers, and administration to enhance the academic experiences of multilingual students across the district. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multilingual education, special education, and the ability to coach staff in a variety of instructional settings.
DUTIES- Coaching and Support:
Provide coaching and professional development for all staff to support the academic success of English Learners (ELs) across all buildings. - Special Education Support:
Offer additional training and coaching to self-contained special education staff to ensure effective strategies are in place for multilingual students with disabilities. - Weekly EL Tips/Strategies:
Compile and distribute weekly tips and instructional strategies for administrators, tailored to the needs of ELs, to support ongoing professional development and effective teaching practices. - Multilingual Perspective in Task Forces:
Collaborate with district task forces, ensuring that a multilingual perspective is integrated into discussions, planning, and decision-making processes. - Screening, Placement, and Scheduling (Grades 6-12):
Support the screening, placement, and scheduling processes for new multilingual students in grades 6-12, ensuring that their educational needs are appropriately addressed. - Paperwork Management:
Ensure that all necessary paperwork for new multilingual students is completed and filed accurately throughout the school year, adhering to district policies and regulations. - Special Education Meetings (Grades 6-12):
Attend special education meetings for students who have declined EL services in grades 6-12, providing insights and recommendations for multilingual students. - Standardized Testing:
Provide support with standardized testing processes and procedures.
- Teaching certificate with bilingual/ESL endorsement as required by the state..
- Experience working with English Learners (ELs) both in general education and special education settings.
- Strong coaching, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Experience with the screening, placement, and scheduling of multilingual students (grades PK-12).
- Knowledge of district and state regulations regarding multilingual students and special education.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially for managing paperwork and documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff).
- Ability to communicate to students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner
- Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred
Fully Board Paid Medical, Dental, and Vision available
Per the negotiated contract between McLean County Unit 5 and the United Five Education Association, for the school year the starting salary range for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree is $42,640-$52,319 and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience. Candidates with a Master's Degree is $47,756-$61,017 and is based upon Education and Certified Teaching experience.
