Head Start – Disability Coordinator – Location Varies
JOB STATUS: (40 hours/wk), Monday – Friday. Year-round.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- At a minimum, must have a Baccalaureate degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education or Early Childhood Special Ed, with disability experience within early childhood and school districts.
- CPR and First Aid certification within three (3) months
COMPENSATION: $27.09-$30.47. Higher starting rates are available for those with 10 or more years of direct experience and a bilingualism differential. Position Summary
The Disabilities Coordinator provides leadership in planning, implementing, and monitoring services for children with disabilities and developmental delays. This role ensures full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, IDEA, and Minnesota state regulations, while promoting inclusive practices across all classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate services for children with disabilities (ages 0–5)
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Head Start regulations
- Collaborate with local education agencies, special education staff, and community partners
- Support teaching staff with inclusion strategies and individualized planning
- Monitor IEPs/IFSPs, services, and documentation
- Oversee screenings, referrals, and follow-up services
- Engage and partner with families to support child development
- Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to staff
