Job Summary
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team at Mora High School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. This position involves collaborating with faculty, staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social growth. The Special Education Teacher will play a vital role in ensuring that all students have access to a quality education and are empowered to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Assess and evaluate students’ progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and provide support in the classroom.
- Provide direct instruction to students in both one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress, including documentation required for IEP meetings.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Work with school administration to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding special education.
- Valid teaching certification in Learning Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of students, families, and staff.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
