Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools is seeking a Choir/Vocal Teacher for Middle/High School for the school year. The candidate should have strong subject knowledge of teaching 5-12 vocal music. Additional compensation and responsibilities include instructing the extracurricular Senior and Junior High Chorale (Schedule C stipend), and Jazz Choir (Schedule C compensation).
The choir performs two large concerts a year and participates in Large Group and Small Group Music contests. The teacher will be given autonomy to design a lesson program that best suits the needs of the students. This choir program is enthusiastically supported by the parents, staff, and community.
Responsibilities- Teach 5-12 vocal music curriculum for middle and high school students.
- Lead the Senior and Junior High Chorale and Jazz Choir, providing instruction and scheduling performances.
- Organize and conduct two large concerts a year and coordinate participation in local music contests.
- Design a student‑centered lesson program and assess student progress.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to support the choir program.
- Valid MN teaching license. Preference for Vocal and Classroom Music licensure.
- Experience teaching vocal music in a middle or high school setting.
- Strong knowledge of voice production, repertoire, and sight‑reading.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Salary ranges from $45,932 (BA, Step
1) to $83,299 (MA+30, Step 15) for , based on experience and education, as defined in the district’s Master Agreement.
