Primary
Purpose:
Assist students and teachers in the special education classes.
- Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
- Educational Aide Certification.
- Ability to work with children using appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Background related to working with children and parents.
- Physical capacity to lift, transfer and otherwise assist students with physical disabilities (e.g., ability to lift 50 lbs.).
- Bus driver training as needed, or as required.
- Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures.
- Assist in carrying out the instructional program under the supervision of the teaching personnel.
- Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
- Assist with teacher planned activities, exercises and drills.
- Follow teacher instruction and guidance.
- Assist in maintaining student records and audit folders.
- Assist in helping students in self-care activities, such as, feeding and toileting needs.
- Participate in planned in-service.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions Mental Demands- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
- Repetitive hand motions.
- Prolonged use of the computer.
- Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
- May require occasional extended hours.
