Para educator Special Education
Full‑time, 184 days/6.5 hrs/day – 2 positions available. This position can be filled after a 5‑day posting period. Apply now!
Duties- Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center‑based settings.
- Manage behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
- Monitor and record student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Manage physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
- Perform other responsibilities related to student medical needs, data collection, and behavior management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate’s degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff.
- Ability to supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform physical tasks such as toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, and behavioral management.
- Must be physically working in the building.
$20.85 /hour to $25.50 /hour DOE with K‑12 experience.
$22.00 /hour to $26.65 /hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOE with K‑12 experience.
$22.85 /hour to $27.50 /hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOE with K‑12 experience.
Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.
Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour. Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.50 per hour.
