About This PositionThe Medical Assistant will manage patient flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in patient care. Patients come from a variety of backgrounds and age groups, requiring individualized care. The focus of the Medical Assistant is on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as described in the Blaze Health scope of practice. Delegable tasks and competencies are specific to the supervising nurse and provider, as outlined by state boards.
The Medical Assistant collaborates with the clinic supervisor, manager, and providers to meet goals of the customer, shift, department, and organization. Communication with the health‑care team regarding progress, concerns, or problems is essential.
Unit‑based skill expectations include technical procedures with competency assessment and validation. Skill and competency validations will occur upon hire and on a schedule determined by Blaze Health, based on mandatory education, training, licensing, and certification policies.
Requirements Education- High school graduate or equivalent (e.g., GED) required
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by a recognized accrediting organization (e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools), with on‑the‑job experience and training OR
- Graduate of a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) program accredited by a national health services organization (e.g., American Medical Technologists), with on‑the‑job experience, training, and passing the RMA certification exam.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Passed X‑Ray Operator’s examination, or willingness to take the exam according to clinic needs.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of computer software applications.
- Current BLS certification
- Registered Medical Assistant certification required if RMA program attended.
