Manufacturing Engineer
Carley Foundry is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive quotations for aluminum castings, tooling, and related foundry services. This role is ideal for someone with strong manufacturing or foundry estimating experience who can review RFQs, blueprints, specifications, CAD files, tooling needs, and production requirements to develop reliable pricing and lead‑time estimates.
Key Responsibilities- Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, CAD files, specifications, and related documents to determine scope, manufacturability, cost requirements, tooling needs, and production assumptions.
- Prepare cost estimates and quotations for aluminum castings, tooling, machining, finishing, heat treating, outside services, setup, labor, material, and related processes.
- Coordinate with engineering and production teams to confirm routing and manufacturability.
- Work with purchasing and outside vendors to obtain pricing, track tooling and outside pattern shop work.
- Maintain quotation files and costing records, and support sales with technical and pricing information during customer discussions.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, organized, and comfortable managing multiple quotes in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Strong blueprint‑reading skills, estimating experience, and knowledge of aluminum foundry operations are highly valued.
Required Qualifications- Experience in Estimating, Costing, Manufacturing, or Foundry operations.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD‑related documents.
- Strong math, analytical, communication, customer service, Excel, and organizational skills.
- Experience with aluminum casting processes such as sand casting, permanent mold, or die casting.
- Knowledge of aluminum alloys, scrap factors, melt loss, yield calculations, tooling, fixtures, machining, heat treat, anodizing, powder coating, painting, finishing processes, NRE tracking, profitability analysis, and quote follow‑up.
This position includes a combination of office work and time in a manufacturing or foundry floor environment. The role may require walking through production areas and using appropriate PPE.

SalaryThe anticipated annual salary range is $70,000 to $90,000
