Job Description:

Responsibilities
  • Keeping all direct reports and unit equipment in compliance with regulations, safety protocol and quality procedures.
  • Participating in monthly/quarterly inventory, internal and external audits.
  • Participating in production planning, production meetings, and submitting production reports to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Completing batching, quality, security, and shipping paperwork for associated loads and materials.
  • Supervising a crew of three or more, scheduling employee coverage and overtime with managerial approval.
  • Communicating with the Operations Coordinator about scheduling needs.
  • Determining and communicating daily assignments by analyzing employee availability, strengths, and company goals.
  • Ensuring effective written and oral communication among all team members.
  • Cross‑training all employees in all work functions within the unit.
  • Promoting safe work habits, training employees in safety, and enforcing regulations.
  • Reporting all safety and compliance issues/incidents to management immediately.
  • Reviewing and complying with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations; ensuring unit areas remain compliant.
  • Observing and assisting with chemical reactions; monitoring gauges and recorders; making operating adjustments as directed.
  • Receiving raw materials, assisting with quality confirmation, and maintaining inventory (barge, railcar, tank truck, tote/drum).
  • Overseeing loading and unloading of trucks; loading finished products for transport.
  • Pulling retain samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Maintaining logs of gauge readings, process round sheets, and shift production.
  • Performing chemical tests to ensure product conformance using standard equipment and procedures.
  • Attending safety and quality meetings as required.
  • Performing all duties safely and following all rules and regulations.
  • Completing all required training in the Regulatory/Compliance Training Program.
  • Ensuring equipment (forklifts, drum handling equipment, pumps, hoses, etc.) are properly cared for and maintained.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience and ability to provide guidance and direction to employees.
  • Dedication to the team and willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Capability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to prioritize work to meet time‑sensitive deadlines both individually and as a supervisor.
  • Effective decision‑making based on available information.
  • Excellent communication and employee relationship‑building skills.
  • Understanding of organizational reporting structures.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, or smell.
  • Frequent walking, standing for extended periods.
  • Eye, hearing, and manual dexterity sufficient for reading printed matter, operating a forklift, and maintaining equipment.
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and crawling.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (respirators, chemical suits, protective boots, eye protection, hearing protection, etc.).
  • Ability to reach in all directions at working heights and to ascend/descend a ladder.
  • Ability to work outdoors in external elements for extended periods.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations and reporting.
  • Experience with AS400 or a similar ERP system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite:
    Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Education and Experience
  • GED/HS Diploma required.
  • 4+ years supervisory experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
