Job Overview

Ross is a leading off‑price retail chain with over 2,200 stores, offering high‑quality brands at extraordinary savings. This role is responsible for supervising all aspects of a Store’s operations, ensuring compliance with company standards, and leading the team to achieve sales and profit goals in a friendly shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all Store operations, ensuring company standards and best practices are consistently met.
  • Staff, train, and develop leadership teams and associates to deliver desired sales and profit results.
  • Manage Stockroom, Front End, and Sales Floor operations to ensure merchandise flow and proper expense control.
  • Analyze Store reports, evaluate controllable expenses, and develop action plans for variance.
  • Schedule associates to meet business objectives and ensure compliance with payroll and scheduling policies.
  • Recruit, train and develop Assistant Managers, Area Supervisors and non‑exempt associates, reducing turnover through retention tools and incentives.
  • Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, progressive discipline and termination when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies, State, Local and Federal regulations, and the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring all associates understand emergency operating procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service, supervise associates in register and customer service desk, and execute merchandise presentation programs.
  • Maintain store appearance, cleanliness and housekeeping standards, reinforcing the Dress Code and Company brand.
  • Oversee merchandise processing, recovery, sizing and markdowns in line with company best practices.
  • Lead annual inventory procedures and monitor stock‑out policies.
General Operating Requirements
  • Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
  • Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
  • Responsible for payroll administration, including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance and payroll reporting.
Organizational Development
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop Assistant Managers, Area Supervisors and associates.
  • Reduce store turnover through selection, training and motivation.
  • Ensure all required training courses are prioritized and completed on time.
  • Co‑manage personnel issues, advising the District Manager when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all state, local and federal regulations.
Expense Control
  • Lead all expenditures to stay within budget.
  • Control payroll hours and adjust to current business trends.
Safety and Security
  • Maintain adherence to company safety policies and ensure safety of associates and customers.
  • Ensure associates understand emergency operating procedures.
Customer Service & Store Brand
  • Treat all customers, associates and leaders with respect and professionalism.
  • Supervise and coach retail associates in efficient, friendly service at registers and service desks.
  • Model a professional appearance in accordance with the company Dress Code.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and easy‑to‑shop environment.
Merchandise Processing and In‑Store Marketing
  • Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed per company standards.
  • Present merchandise according to company merchandising guidelines.
  • Manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within the expected timeframe.
Loss Prevention
  • Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information and merchandise.
  • Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Lead the annual inventory process, preparing and executing inventory guidelines.
  • Monitor mark‑out‑of‑stock policy for proper administration.
