Job Overview

  • Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.
  • Directs workers in projects such as construction of ditches and roadways and grading drainage areas.
  • Operates equipment such as bulldozers and graders and trains workers in equipment operation.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Understands and is able to perform project per scope of work.
  • Interprets job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Understands and follows MUTCD traffic control.
  • Conducts visible inspection of crew trucks and vehicles.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Assists skilled laborers and laborers when needed.
  • Fueling and maintaining equipment.
  • Can perform non‑mechanical tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Prepares trucks and materials for job.
  • Keeps trucks and equipment clean.
  • Conducts daily visual inspections and weekly written inspections when driving vehicles.
  • Loads and unloads truck.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water and makes repairs as needed.
  • Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs and tire chains.
  • Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Ensures all necessary documents are current in truck (e.g., registration, inspection and insurance cards).
  • Follows directions from supervisors.
  • Conducts hand digging and related jobs that require physical labor.
  • Responsible to assist during emergencies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists skilled laborers and laborers when needed; manages and directs work crews on the job site.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or 5 years minimum experience.
  • Must be able to communicate with employees and supervisors.
  • Mathematical and reasoning ability.
  • Computer skills.
  • Certificates, licenses, and registration.
  • Competent Person Training.
  • Current valid driver’s license.
  • Confined space/excavation training.
  • Ability to operate equipment on site.
  • Ability to manage multiple employees on job site.
