Qualifications
Associate's degree in heavy equipment operations or related field and at least one year of experience in a similar position. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience equivalent to three years in a similar position.
Regular and reliable attendance required. Must possess a valid driver's license and be free from major traffic violations within the last three years.
Required Special Qualifications- Valid Minnesota Class "B" driver’s license upon employment.
- Valid Minnesota Class "A" driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 12 months of employment.
Pre-employment drug test required per the Omnibus Transportation Testing Act of 1991 and subsequent testing per regulations.
Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment in snow removal, road, bridge, and construction projects; may include construction, maintenance, and repair of bridges.
- Assist with building maintenance tasks and limited janitorial duties.
- Operate medium or heavy equipment such as tandem trucks, motor graders, self-propelled rubber-tired rollers, steel wheel rollers, dozers, skid steers, hydraulic excavators, and others for plowing, sanding, reconstructing roads, hauling rock, seal coating, etc.
- Perform routine maintenance duties: fence installation, weed suppression, ditch cleaning, shoveling, use of power tools for road and bridge maintenance, building repairs, and janitorial duties.
- Mow ditches, cut brush, and similar tasks.
- Conduct preventive equipment maintenance: change oil, lubricate, keep equipment in good condition.
- Complete other assigned activities.
- Understanding of operating characteristics of assigned equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, applicable traffic laws, regulations, and routine traffic control operations.
- Skill in using and operating assigned equipment and various hand and power tools.
- Proficiency in computer and technology use.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, make minor operating adjustments, recognize operating deficiencies.
- Capacity to perform heavy manual tasks in varied weather conditions.
- Diversity: ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to identify roadway maintenance issues and report per procedures.

Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentKey physical demands include lifting up to 70 pounds, pushing up to 100 pounds, operating heavy equipment, performing repetitive hand movements, and exposure to atmospheric conditions, noise, and weather extremes in outdoor, shop, and vehicle environments.
