The Instrument and Electrical Installer is responsible for installing electrical systems, instrumentation, control devices and related equipment in industrial, commercial or manufacturing environments. This position requires the ability to read technical drawings, install conduit and wiring systems, mount instrumentation devices and ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Install electrical equipment, conduit, cable tray, wiring and associated support systems.
  • Install and terminate power, control and instrumentation cables.
  • Mount and connect instrumentation devices including, transmitters, switches, sensors and control valves.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, loop diagrams and wiring schematics.
  • Perform cable pulling, cable routing, and wire terminations according to project specifications.
  • Assist with calibration, testing, commissioning and startup activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems as required.
  • Verify installations comply with company standards, customer specifications and applicable electrical codes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures and job site requirements.
  • Coordinate activities with supervisors, project managers and other trades to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the area supervisor.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in an environment that includes moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical equipment, and explosives and must follow safety protocols. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

However, in some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary. Elements of the work environment are non-climate-controlled.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in electrical, instrumentation, industrial construction or related fields.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical installation practices and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience working with 12

    VDC and 24

    VDC electrical and control systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools and testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
