IKEA Milton Keynes is looking for a Carpenter to join our showroom team.
Job OverviewA Carpenter transforms raw wood into the backbone of the showroom – building walls, platforms, and raised floors, and cutting and shaping materials like MDF, plywood, and panels to bring each space to life.

- NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations/Site Carpentry, or an equivalent qualification such as an HND or NVQ in Carpentry.
- Operational carpentry experience in a commercial or retail environment, preferably in retail fit‑out or exhibition installations; attention to detail is essential.
- Experience in tiling and flooring is desirable.
- Strong enthusiasm for home furnishings and design, with ability to generate ideas to inspire customers.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Clear verbal and visual communication skills.
- Minimum age 18 for health and safety reasons.
- Implement store media as per work briefs; build wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, floorings, and paint complex furniture installations.
- Plan and order materials and resources, obtaining accurate costs to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the store’s appearance and ensure an inspiring shopping experience.
- Prioritise key tasks to meet visitors’ expectations while minimising shop‑floor disruption.
- Adhere to safety standards at all times and take immediate action if safety is compromised.
