Carpenter, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

IKEA Milton Keynes is looking for a Carpenter to join our showroom team.

A Carpenter transforms raw wood into the backbone of the showroom – building walls, platforms, and raised floors, and cutting and shaping materials like MDF, plywood, and panels to bring each space to life.

• Annual starting salary of £29,577, with potential for negotiation based on experience.
• Standard 39‑hour work week, Monday to Friday, typically from 06:30 a.m. to 15:00 p.m.; flexibility to be discussed.

• NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations/Site Carpentry, or an equivalent qualification such as an HND or NVQ in Carpentry.
• Operational carpentry experience in a commercial or retail environment, preferably in retail fit‑out or exhibition installations; attention to detail is essential.
• Experience in tiling and flooring is desirable.
• Strong enthusiasm for home furnishings and design, with ability to generate ideas to inspire customers.
• Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Clear verbal and visual communication skills.
• Minimum age 18 for health and safety reasons.

• Implement store media as per work briefs; build wall constructions, podiums, fixtures, floorings, and paint complex furniture installations.
• Plan and order materials and resources, obtaining accurate costs to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain the store’s appearance and ensure an inspiring shopping experience.
• Prioritise key tasks to meet visitors’ expectations while minimising shop‑floor disruption.
• Adhere to safety standards at all times and take immediate action if safety is compromised.
