Job OverviewThe Agricultural Finance Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating credit proposals, conducting risk assessments, and structuring financing solutions for agricultural clients. This position bridges the gap between financial expertise and sector-specific knowledge, ensuring that loan products are aligned with the unique cycles and challenges of farming operations. The analyst will collaborate closely with relationship managers, agronomists, and product development teams to deliver comprehensive financial services that support the growth of South Africa’s agricultural sector.

Key Responsibilities- Analyze financial statements, cash flow projections, and market data of agricultural enterprises.
- Prepare detailed credit risk assessments and recommend appropriate loan structures.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify early warning signals, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with agronomy experts to understand production cycles, input costs, and commodity price trends.
- Develop sector‑specific financial models that incorporate seasonal variability and climate risk.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior credit committees and senior management.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory requirements, government agricultural subsidies, and financing schemes.
- Support relationship managers in client acquisition and retention through financial advisory services.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and data visualization tools.
- In‑depth understanding of agricultural value chains, commodity markets, and farm management practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple client dossiers.
- Proficiency in banking software and credit assessment platforms.
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or a recognized agricultural finance qualification are advantageous.
ExperienceApplicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in financial analysis, credit underwriting, or loan administration, preferably within the agricultural sector or a related industry such as agribusiness, commodity trading, or rural development.
SalaryThe role offers a competitive salary range of SSP 350,000 to 500,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the remuneration package.
