Senior Geophysicist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geophysicist to join their exploration team, based in Bloemfontein . This role involves the processing, interpretation, and integration of seismic and other geophysical data to identify and evaluate subsurface hydrocarbon potential. You will work closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to contribute to exploration strategies and prospect maturation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of geophysical principles, advanced seismic interpretation techniques, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality subsurface insights within the Oil & Gas industry .

• Process, quality control, and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures and strati graphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, gravity, and magnetic data for comprehensive subsurface mapping.
• Utilize advanced geophysical software for data analysis and interpretation.
• Conduct geophysical risk assessments and contribute to prospect de-risking efforts.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to refine exploration targets and development plans.
• Stay current with emerging geophysical technologies and methodologies.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in geophysical exploration, with a focus on seismic interpretation.
• Proficiency in seismic processing and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Opend Tect).
• Strong understanding of seismic attributes, AVO analysis, and inversion techniques.
• Experience with pre-stack seismic data analysis.
