Senior Operations Geologist

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Geologist to join their team in Bloemfontein . This role is crucial for providing real-time geological support during drilling operations, ensuring that wells are drilled safely and efficiently to target. You will be responsible for interpreting drilling data, making critical geological decisions, and communicating effectively with the drilling teams and management. This position is integral to optimizing hydrocarbon recovery and minimizing risks in the Oil & Gas industry .

• Provide on-site and remote geological supervision during drilling operations.
• Interpret well logs, core data, and drilling parameters to confirm lithology and reservoir presence.
• Make critical real-time geological decisions regarding well path adjustments, geosteering, and formation evaluation.
• Communicate geological information and recommendations clearly and concisely to drilling crews and management.
• Ensure the accurate and timely generation of geological reports and data for post-drill analysis.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers to optimize well placement and reservoir drainage strategies.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in operations geology , with significant exposure to live drilling environments.
• Proficiency in well log analysis, formation evaluation techniques, and geological software.
• Strong understanding of sedimentary geology and petroleum systems .
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a hybrid setting.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with drilling teams in Bloemfontein .
