Agricultural Technician - Irrigation Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Agricultural Technician with expertise in irrigation systems to join their team in Bloemfontein . This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of various irrigation infrastructure across their farms, ensuring optimal water management for crop production. You will work closely with agronomists and farm managers to implement efficient watering strategies and troubleshoot any system issues.

• Install, maintain, and repair a range of irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and center-pivot systems.
• Perform regular inspections of irrigation infrastructure to identify leaks, blockages, or system malfunctions.
• Calibrate irrigation equipment to ensure accurate water application rates according to crop needs and soil conditions.
• Assist in the design and planning of new irrigation layouts and system upgrades.
• Operate and maintain tools and machinery used for irrigation system maintenance.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance.

• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as an Agricultural Technician or in a related role focused on irrigation systems.
• Technical knowledge of different types of irrigation systems and their components.
• Ability to read and interpret irrigation schematics and plans.
• Proficiency in using hand and power tools for installation and repair.
• Understanding of water management principles and their application in agriculture.
• Physical fitness to perform tasks outdoors in various conditions and handle heavy equipment.
