Aircraft Ground Equipment; GSE) Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain their fleet of essential ground machinery in Bloemfontein . This role is vital for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of all equipment used for aircraft handling, servicing, and movement, including tugs, baggage loaders, and de-icing units. You will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of this specialized equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety within a demanding operational environment.

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on GSE fleet (e.g., hydraulic systems, engines, electrical components).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with ground support equipment.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify and rectify faults accurately.
• Ensure all GSE meets safety standards and regulatory requirements before operation.
• Maintain accurate service records and inventory of spare parts for GSE maintenance.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational delays.

• Proven experience as a Mechanic or Technician , with specific experience in heavy machinery or GSE.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical diagrams.
• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to operational procedures.
• Relevant trade qualification or certification is a plus.
