Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment across multiple schools.

• Teaches knowledge and skills in both PE & Health Education.
• Works cooperatively with other health teachers in planning and implementing a balanced PE & Health Education program.
• Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the health education areas.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students, and keeps appropriate records.
• Evaluates each student's growth, knowledge, and contribution.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.

• Health and Physical Education Connecticut Teaching Certification
• Primary teaching assignment in the subject area and grade level
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and administration
• Effective communication skills with students and staff
• Demonstrated organizational abilities
• Knowledge of student and department instructional practices, procedures and interpretation of assessments
• Ability to assist in the development and administration of Health education assessments including CFAs, benchmarks, and high stakes tests
• Other experience, training, and qualifications deemed significant by the Superintendent of Schools
• CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification preferred
