Position: TRAVELING RESPONSE MANAGER

Working as a Response Manager involves significant responsibility, strong knowledge of hazmat and emergency response procedures, and exceptional leadership qualities. Managers often work in extreme conditions and must possess excellent time‑management skills, be able to multi‑task, and deliver work within tight deadlines. Frequent and extensive travel is required.

Ideal Candidates
  • Four (4) years of direct on‑scene response experience in the cleanup of hazardous substances, oil and other contaminants at a site, including development of site safety plans, heavy equipment operation, field construction, or other disciplines related to the contract requirements; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as physical, chemical or biological science, engineering, or construction management from an accredited college or university, plus one (1) year of direct on‑scene response experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a site project manager, managing and supervising multi‑disciplinary response personnel for emergency response actions involving hazardous substances, oil and other contaminants at a site.
  • Professional knowledge of oil, petroleum, and hazardous substance disposal regulations, including accurate completion of hazardous waste manifests, waste profiling, and regulatory classification.
  • Professional knowledge of hazardous materials transportation regulations with the ability to identify proper shipping containers, labels, hazardous waste marks, hazard class, and placarding requirements in accordance with US DOT regulations.
  • Ability to prepare written technical reports covering removal operations, hazardous evaluation, waste profiling, transportation, disposal, data evaluation, and daily site operation summaries.
  • Ability to manage and ensure proper execution of multiple simultaneous subcontracts of varying type and complexity, serve as contractor point of contact with subcontractors, and independently negotiate and resolve subcontractor disputes.
  • Knowledge of site cost management systems, ability to operate computer software, and prepare daily cost reports.
  • Knowledge of OSHA health and safety regulations for hazardous waste and general construction sites, ability to prepare and modify site‑specific health and safety plans, and serve as site safety officer.
  • Ability to calibrate and use field screening instrumentation such as organic vapor analyzers, combustible gas indicators, toxic gas meters, portable gas chromatographs, pH/Conductivity meters, and radiation monitors to measure chemical, explosive, and radiological hazards, interpret data, and evaluate hazards.

* Multi‑disciplinary skills are those possessed by a professional such as a site safety officer, chemist, geologist, or engineer, as well as non‑professionals such as foremen, equipment operators, lab technicians, and laborers.

Job Requirements
  • Frequent and extensive travel required.
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check, and physical exam.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States (verified through E‑Verify).
  • Must be able to interpret and follow written and oral instructions and assignments.
  • Able to wear a full respirator.
  • Able to work in confined spaces.
  • Regularly lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Environmental experience, hazardous waste experience, and certification (e.g., OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER).
