Electrical Engineer V – Bloomfield CT Contract – 1st Shift, 5/40. Pay Range: $88.50 – $98.33/Hr. Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k).
OverviewLead the capacity expansion of an industrial electronics repair operation specializing in elevator drive and PCBA repairs. Serve as the technical lead responsible for designing, building, validating, and deploying new test systems; optimizing repair workflows; and improving overall costs and lead times.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and commission new electronic test equipment and repair fixtures.
- Develop functional, diagnostic, and end‑of‑line test solutions for industrial electronic assemblies.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment documentation, and bills of material.
- Develop validation protocols and acceptance criteria for deployed test systems.
- Integrate instruments, data acquisition systems, power supplies, PLCs, and automation components as required.
- Provide expert‑level troubleshooting support for PCBAs, power electronics, VFDs, motor control systems, industrial control electronics, and embedded assemblies.
- Improve diagnostic methodologies, reduce repeat failures, and shorten repair cycle times.
- Serve as the technical authority for repair processes and test methodologies.
- Analyze existing workflows, material movement, workstation utilization, and throughput.
- Design optimized facility and cell layouts utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Establish standardized workstations, repair processes, and testing procedures.
- Implement best practices for quality, safety, ergonomics, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and execute plans to increase repair capacity, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for increased throughput and operational flexibility.
- Support staffing and operational ramp‑up activities.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering technology, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, repair, test engineering, or industrial systems support.
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and repair of electronic assemblies and power electronics.
- Experience designing, building, and commissioning electronic test equipment.
- Experience leading facility transitions, manufacturing transfers, or operational startup initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of industrial process flow, Lean Manufacturing, and cell‑based production systems.
- Ability to develop technical documentation including schematics, procedures, layouts, and work instructions.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience supporting elevator, industrial automation, or transportation industry electronics repair.
- Experience with elevator electronics and drive systems.
- Knowledge of variable frequency drives, motor controls, and industrial power systems.
- Experience with National Instruments (NI) platforms, LabVIEW, PLC‑based test systems, automated test equipment, and industrial electronics repair.
- Experience working within repair depot, remanufacturing, or service operations environments.
- Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering certifications.
- Current‑state operational assessment.
- Future‑state layout and workflow design.
- New test equipment designs and deployment plans.
- Equipment commissioning strategy.
- Standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Test equipment validation and qualification documentation.
- Capacity expansion recommendations and implementation roadmap.
- Final operational hand‑off package and implementation.
