Reports to: Chapter Lead
Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role you will contribute significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product, and/or solution development, and associated intellectual property. You will be the first point of contact for research and development product‑related issues and maintenance, and showcase your expertise in identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model is Hybrid

, primarily the Develop & Care - OEM Agile Team in Bloomfield, CT
.
- Lead projects through a Stage‑Gate development process from ideation through launch, driving achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and managing risks.
- Ensure projects meet customer needs, business standards, and program / product requirements, including functional, cost, reliability, manufacturability, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Execute designs with solid modeling software (PTC Creo / Windchill) to create models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and BOMs for designs which may include plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive parts and validate designs through appropriate means including performance testing.
- Maintain recognized expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the chapter, including new capabilities, skills, technical knowledge, performance, and culture.
- Enjoy solving technical problems and developing products & solutions in the electrification market, such as circuit breakers, panel boards, or switchboards, including for the Data Center (DC) Market.
- Skilled in understanding and adapting to dynamic customer needs, organizing work for yourself and an extended cross‑functional team, and effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in mechanical design (including 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation using PTC Creo or similar tools) and engineering analysis.
- Foster a growth mindset, focusing on continual learning and improvement, and be at ease operating in a dynamic agile environment focused on delivering value to internal & external customers.
- BS Mechanical Engineering or similar educational background with 5+ years of experience in R&D or a related field.
- Communicate in English.
- Able to travel domestically & internationally as required.
- Valid U.S. work authorization and must not require sponsorship for an employment visa by ABB at any time in the future.
