We're seeking an Assistant Controller to partner closely with the Controller and CFO to support accounting operations, strengthen GAAP compliance, and help evolve processes within a growing, mission-driven nonprofit organization. This is a hands-on opportunity that will evolve over time.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements

+ Help build and strengthen internal controls, policies, procedures, and SOPs

+ Prepare and support financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reporting

+ Monitor budgets and financial performance to inform leadership decisions

+ Oversee cash flow, AP/AR, and purchasing activities

+ Support annual audits and fixed asset reporting

+ Manage contracts and insurance programs to ensure proper coverage and compliance

+ Partner closely with the Controller to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

Required Qualifications /

Experience:

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

+ Strong GAAP knowledge

+ Working knowledge of government accounting and federal/state/local regulations

+ Experience supporting audits and financial compliance

+ Collaborative communicator, comfortable in a hybrid work environment

+ Ability to build, document, and improve accounting processes and procedures
