Bloomfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) committed to excellence in school‑based practice and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise and a passion for supporting students in developing essential communication skills that promote academic achievement and social‑emotional development. This position is a key component of the district’s student support services and works in partnership with teachers, families, and specialists to ensure equitable access to communication support.
Location: Metacomet Elementary
$2,500 salary supplement for clinicians holding the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP)
Responsibilities- Serve as a resource to school staff in the development of balanced and effective oral communication and speech improvement programs.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring students with suspected or identified speech and language impairments.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnoses of speech, language, and voice disorders in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Provide scheduled screenings to identify students with potential speech or language difficulties at designated grade levels.
- Design and implement individualized therapy programs to meet students’ unique needs and support progress toward educational goals.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff to incorporate communication strategies into students’ daily academic activities.
- Assist with appropriate referrals to community agencies and specialists as necessary.
- Provide information, consultation, and support to families regarding their child’s communication development and available resources.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in compliance with IEP goals, district procedures, and professional standards.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team planning, and professional development activities.
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred;
Clinical Fellows will be considered with appropriate supervision - Knowledge of school‑based service delivery models, IEP processes, and educational best practices
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
