JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a compassionate Spanish-speaking Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to support clients living with physical, emotional, and/or cognitive impairments. Your duties will include performing housekeeping duties, assisting with personal hygiene, and providing companionship.
Fluency in Spanish is required for this assignment to ensure effective communication with the individual and family. you should possess experience in a similar role and knowledge of the best practices in providing personal care. Ultimately, a first-class Personal Care Assistant will be someone who prioritizes the wellbeing of clients and demonstrates a caring approach.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have completed Personal Care training and competency.
- Have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick and elderly.
- Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
- Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Spanish Speaking
- Successful clearance of background checks.
- Basic computer skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPR/First Aid Certifications (Required).
- Personal care assistant certificate and/or CNA or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other personal-care needs.
- Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, positioning, and ambulation, as authorized.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration.
- Provide medication reminders within the PCA’s authorized scope.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Accompany the individual to appointments, errands, and approved community activities.
- Monitor the individual’s well-being and immediately report changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow the individual’s care plan and all agency policies and procedures.
- Complete accurate service documentation, timesheets, and electronic visit verification requirements.
- Maintain the individual’s privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and personal rights.
- Communicate professionally in Spanish with the individual and family.
- Respond appropriately during emergencies and promptly report incidents.
- Perform other assigned duties consistent with the individual’s care plan and the PCA’s authorized responsibilities.
LIFTING REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform the following tasks if necessary:
- Ability to participate in physical activity.
- Ability to work for extended periods while standing and being involved in physical activity.
- Ability to do extensive bending, lifting and standing on a regular basis.
