Molding Set-Up Technician

A mold machine set-up technician is responsible for set-up operation and adjustment of molding machines, and auxiliary equipment. Carries out and assigns tasks based on department priorities and schedules.

• Able to set up molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Able to operate and purge machines per setup instructions.
• Able to troubleshoot and adjust process as necessary.

• Understands Deringer-Ney workmanship standards.
• Able to read blueprints.
• Able to use all measuring equipment.
• Visually inspects parts using magnification.
• Maintains data collection files as required.
• Understands all packaging requirements.

• Properly inputs labor for data collection.
• Maintains lot control as required.
• Uses all safety equipment as required.
• Uses good housekeeping practices as required.
• Maintains good teamwork attitude.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and or process problems as required.
• Maintain plastic level in all machines.
• Purge machines as required.
• Provide guidance for the operators.
• Assist in material handling duties as required.
• Perform Basic PC and record keeping as required.
• Maintain and organize plastics warehouse
• Assist in inventory duties as required.

• Familiar with operation of molding machines.
• Use of precision measuring tools (optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, drop indicator)
• Basic understanding of SPC.
• Blueprint reading.
• Understanding of molding machine operation.
• Understanding of molds and auxiliary equipment.
• Understanding of plastic processing.

• High school education
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using measuring and magnification equipment.
• Experience in working in a team atmosphere
• Blueprint reading.
• Understanding of Geometric Tolerance, a plus.
• Good communication skills.
• Thorough understanding of customer requirements as they pertain to surface and dimensional differences.

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds and stand 95% of shift.
