The Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint and protective coatings to manufactured items and structures. This role requires knowledge of paints, mixing techniques, and application methods to meet customer specifications while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The Painter ensures quality finishes through proper surface preparation, safe equipment operation, and adherence to company and regulatory standards.

• Apply protective coatings by hand or spray gun to surfaces in accordance with customer specifications.
• Move items to drying areas for additional painting or packaging.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups as necessary.
• Maintain and make available all current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for painting-related materials.
• Maintain daily logs of paint usage in compliance with EPA regulations.
• Clean and maintain painting equipment, including brushes, spray nozzles, hoses, containers, hoods, and fire control systems.
• Ensure assigned work is clearly understood prior to commencing.
• Complete painting tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain housekeeping in paint areas, including preparation and protection of surroundings to prevent overspray and air pollution.
• Immediately report all nonconforming materials to the supervisor.

• Ability to safely use all required painting tools and equipment, including spray painting systems and PPE.
• Ability to read paint labels and mixing instructions.
• Knowledge of paint types, properties, safety precautions, and reactions.
• Familiarity with SDS sections related to painting processes.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company Health & Safety procedures.

• Ability to work in varied positions (bent over, stooping, squatting).
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with proper body mechanics.
• Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs with proper body mechanics.
• Frequent walking throughout shop and yard areas.
• Ability to climb ladders, including those exceeding 12 feet.
