Job Summary

The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports daily warehouse operations at the Bloomfield, Connecticut, facility and serves as the primary operational backup to the warehouse manager. This hands-on role helps maintain efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, SAP transaction integrity, shipping and receiving execution, and continuity of warehouse operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as the primary operational backup to the warehouse manager by helping coordinate daily priorities, workflow, personnel support, training reinforcement, and continuity of operations during absences or peak workloads.
  • Support daily warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, storage, material movement, shipping, logistics, and warehouse organization.
  • Maintain accurate SAP transactions for receipts, inventory movements, storage transfers, delivery documentation, and inventory adjustments.
  • Coordinate inbound material flow, including receipt verification, labeling, staging, discrepancy resolution, inspection routing, quarantine support, and put-away.
  • Support outbound fulfillment, including picking, packing, shipment preparation, freight coordination, carrier communication, and shipment issue resolution.
  • Partner with Procurement, Planning, Quality, Logistics, Inventory, and other teams to resolve receiving, inventory, shipping, and material availability issues.
  • Support customer returns, repair-related materials, quality inspection staging, controlled inventory, and materials on inspection or quality hold.
  • Assist with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, internal audits, safety compliance, storage utilization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong understanding of warehouse receiving, inventory control, shipping, and material handling processes
  • Experience using SAP or a comparable ERP system
  • Ability to perform hands-on warehouse work, including safely lifting or moving materials up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment; ability to obtain and maintain required forklift-operation certification
  • Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and document handling
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, business, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain functions
  • Previous experience supporting a warehouse manager, supervisor, lead, or team leader strongly preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or highly regulated environment ideal.
  • Working knowledge of transportation, freight, and carrier management activities favored.
