Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join a fully onsite team in New Jersey. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who brings a strong background in both accounts receivable and accounts payable and takes pride in accurate, detail-driven work. The person in this role will support day-to-day accounting operations, partner with internal teams to resolve payment and invoice issues, and help maintain reliable financial records in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

- Apply incoming payments accurately and perform reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.

- Prepare and issue customer credit adjustments related to product returns, billing corrections, and pricing updates.

- Investigate invoice discrepancies, respond to customer account inquiries, and work toward timely resolution of disputes.

- Process credit card transactions for customers who submit payment prior to order fulfillment.

- Track and communicate accounts receivable activity and outstanding balances to management.

- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices and credit card expenses with a high level of accuracy.

- Support accounts payable operations, including data entry, weekly payment processing, and settlement activity with international affiliate partners.

- Maintain petty cash records and assist with routine cash reporting and related documentation. Requirements - Prior SAP experience is required.

- Experience supporting both accounts receivable and accounts payable functions in an accounting environment.

- Working knowledge of billing processes, payment application, and account reconciliation.

- Basic Excel skills for routine tracking, review, and reporting tasks.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple accounting activities.

- Clear communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, management, and internal teams.

- Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage competing priorities effectively in an onsite setting.
