Job Description
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of the TRIO SSS STAR Program, the SSS Academic Success Coach supports the day-to-day administration of the TRIO SSS Program and the implementation of an intentional enrollment management framework that guides scholars from prospective student to alumni status. Core responsibilities include advising, academic support and coaching, mentorship, leadership and skill development, data management, and recruitment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Director in developing the mission, strategic goals, and day-to-day administration for SSS, including annual review of staffing, recruitment, enrollment, year‑round programming, and all policies and procedures.
- Coordinate aspects of the SSS Program including the academic and social advising of scholars and targeted initiatives and programs related to learning, retention and satisfaction.
- Coordinate the recruitment of eligible scholars in conjunction with internal and external partners.
- Assist in monitoring the academic progress of scholars through the use of progress reports and alerts.
- Develop key partnerships with external constituents (feeder schools, churches, non‑profit organizations, etc.) and act as liaison to university partners in support of TRIO SSS initiatives, programs, and services.
- Support the completion of annual reporting, assessment and evaluation, and compilation of scholar rosters and agreements in compliance with university, state and federal regulations.
- Train, supervise and evaluate part‑time hires, graduate assistants, interns, and student workers.
- Assist in conducting assessment and utilize data compiled from standardized assessment tools and in‑house data collection to ensure current programs and services are achieving established goals and objectives related to scholar learning, retention, and satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of two years of full‑time experience in higher education or related academic support services.
- Experience working with first‑generation, low‑income, and/or students with documented disabilities scholars.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with data entry, management, and reporting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem‑solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Gmail, Outlook).
- Strong sense of professional ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience coordinating college programs or activities for academically at‑risk student populations.
- Previous experience working with TRIO SSS or similar state or federally funded programs.
- Demonstrated experience advocating for students and facilitating connections to university or community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with college departments and campus stakeholders.
- Proficiency with database management systems such as Canvas, Blumen, Navigate, or Banner.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Canva or similar platforms.
$63,833.23–$70,221.74 Annually
