Position Summary
Bloomfield College of Montclair State University seeks a dedicated and experienced Biology educator for a two-year term appointment as Temporary Instructor/Assistant Professor, with specialization in Anatomy and Physiology. This teaching-focused, temporary appointment covers AY2026–27 and AY2027–28, with no research or creative activity expectations. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to take on a course coordination role, supporting adjunct faculty teaching remaining sections of the A&P sequence.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory sections of BIO
205 (Anatomy and PhysiologyI) and BIO
206 (Anatomy and Physiology II), carrying a standard Teaching Faculty load of 24 credit hours per academic year. - Support adjunct faculty teaching remaining sections of the A&P sequence.
- Work closely with laboratory technician to plan and coordinate laboratory preparations for all A&P lab sections.
- Mentor and advise Applied Biological Sciences and pre‑Nursing students on academic pathways, course progression, and preparation for Nursing program admission.
- Monitor student progression through the BIO
205–206 sequence and proactively identify students who may need additional academic support. - Collaborate with Nursing program faculty to ensure curricular alignment between the A&P sequence and the expectations of the Nursing curriculum.
- Master’s degree in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or a closely related field (degree must be completed by the start date).
- Demonstrated expertise in Human Anatomy and Physiology and documented experience teaching at the college level, including laboratory instruction.
- Evidence of the ability to provide consistent, high‑quality instruction across both lecture and laboratory settings.
- A strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Record of success teaching in a diverse environment; minimum three years of teaching experience.
- Ph.D. in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or a closely related field.
- Experience supporting multi‑section courses, including coordinating adjunct faculty and laboratory preparations.
- Experience teaching and mentoring pre-health students, including those preparing for Nursing program admission.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty across disciplines to ensure curricular alignment between gateway science courses and professional program requirements.
- Experience integrating high-impact practices with teaching.

Salary range: $64,629.71–$79,781.83 annually. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
