Job Description & How to Apply Below
Job Summary:
The primary responsibilities include designing and installing electrical subsystems on small robots and other ground-based vehicles, and coordinating design and installations under the direction of senior electrical and/or mechanical engineers.
Design work includes electrical topology of Drive By Wire systems (defining components, placement, and connectivity based on similar systems). Responsibilities also include harness design and pin mapping (including reverse engineering activities), building and testing wiring harnesses, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electrical wiring as needed, and applying principles of electronics, electrical circuitry, and electrical testing.
Troubleshooting may include analyzing serial bus (e.g., CAN) electrical signals and data.
The role may also involve programming electronic modules, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying developmental electronic components and systems such as computer equipment, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls. Work is typically performed under the direction of senior engineering staff with minimal supervision. Candidate should have full proficiency in a specialized area of discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical system diagrams, including wiring harnesses
- Collaborate with engineering teams on harness routing and electronic module placement
- Program embedded modules using logical/visual programming languages
- Assemble and test wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and related electrical components
- Troubleshoot electrical prototypes and resolve functional issues
- Diagnose electrical or mechanical failures and perform corrective/preventive actions
- Work from wiring diagrams, layouts, and engineering specifications for system modifications or installations
- Repair or replace defective circuitry using hand tools and soldering techniques
- Test electronic units using standard test equipment and analyze results for performance validation
- Perform periodic electrical testing and recommend or implement equipment improvements or replacements
- Support preventive maintenance and calibration of systems and equipment
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tools, software, and industry practices through training and research
Skills:
- 5–7 years of experience in electronics systems integration and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with test equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, etc.)
