Electrical Engineer Expert (8–12 years)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, integrate, and support electrical subsystems for small robots and ground-based vehicles. The role involves working under senior engineering direction to design electrical architectures, develop wiring harnesses, troubleshoot systems, and support testing and installation activities. The engineer will also contribute to embedded module programming and prototype development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design electrical system diagrams, including wiring harnesses and subsystem architecture for drive-by-wire systems
- Define electrical topology (component selection, placement, and connectivity) based on existing systems and design requirements
- Perform harness design, pin mapping, and reverse-engineering of existing electrical systems
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers for routing harnesses and integrating electronic modules
- Build, assemble, and test wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and electrical components
- Troubleshoot electrical prototypes and identify functional deviations or failures
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions and implement corrective actions
- Work from wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for installations and modifications
- Repair and modify defective circuitry using hand tools and soldering equipment
- Perform testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, protocol analyzers, and power supplies
- Analyze CAN bus and other serial communication signals for debugging and validation
- Program embedded modules using C and visual logic-based programming tools (as required)
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment
- Document test results and recommend improvements or replacements of components
- Stay updated with industry tools, standards, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in electronics systems integration and troubleshooting
- Strong experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies, protocol analyzers)
- Experience with CAD and circuit design tools
- Knowledge of wiring harness construction and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Understanding of electronic wiring routes and system integration
- Basic embedded systems programming experience (C or similar)
- Experience in assembling and testing electronic systems and prototypes
- Familiarity with office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic mechanical assembly and use of hand tools preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, sitting, and use of hands
- Ability to work around and on heavy equipment, including climbing on/off machinery
